One of Peter Williams’ resolutions for 2014 is to raise money to support the Help for Heroes charity. The Big Battlefield Bike Ride is a 336 mile, week long cycle ride in early June from Brussels to Paris that follows in part the Western Front from World War One and will visit some of the battlefield sites. Some of the cyclists are former serviceman like Peter, others are soldiers wounded in service, others are riding with their sons, daughters or relatives who have been injured while serving. ‘Even double and triple amputees will be riding, which is sure to be a motivation for me as well as a humbling experience,’ says Peter.

About Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. ‘The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives,’ said a Help for Heroes representative. ‘They are still battling and we won’t let them battle alone.’
