Background

Client based in Somalia required Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) for their staff, many of whom were local employees and had little existing knowledge on the subject matter.

Hart Nationwide were to determine the logistics for the training to be conducted. Consulted with client to determine how many people, where the training would be held, how they would be brought to the training location and what additional requirements applied.

The team went on to conduct a 5-day HEAT course covering an introduction into Somalia and a context for the training. Topics covered included security awareness, vehicles, threats, First Aid as well as a practical exercise. The training was also conducted with cultural sensitivities in mind, with many of the trainees being local nationals and uncertain about the role and services of security companies.

‘Students were immersed into a learning environment designed to challenge, test, and develop their new skills.”- Somalia Operations Manager
